As in all of AS/NZS3000:2007 there is much to know and be aware of. No more important is an understanding of the earthing requirements and arrangements set out in Section 5: EARTHING ARRANGEMENTS AND EARTHING CONDUCTORS
There is a little known clause, 5.6.2.5 Showers and bathrooms to watch out for.
Any conductive reinforcing within a concrete floor or wall of a room containing a shower or bath shall be bonded to the earthing system of the installation.
An equipotential bonding conductor in accordance with 5.6.3 (not less than 4mm2) shall be connected between the reinforcing material and any part of the earthing system.
Missing this work during the constructions foundation stage and then the non-existence of this bonding requirement picked up during the electrical inspection, can be very costly.
Active branches have available pre-made 6 or 10 mm2 equipotential bonding conductors which are exothermically welded to a stainless steel rod and supplied with clamps for this purpose. This is a cost effective and extremely practical way to do this bonding.
